Find answers to common questions about IQValidate

Getting Started

IQValidate is a drive wiping platform. The desktop software overwrites a drive, reads it back to check, and produces a certificate of erasure that says which method was used and what was checked. It also produces certificates of destruction for drives that are physically destroyed. The certificates are records of what was done; they do not by themselves make you compliant with any standard.

1) Sign up, 2) download the agent and install it on the computers you wipe drives with, 3) sign in on the agent so it links to your organization, and 4) pick drives on the website and start a wipe.

Yes! We offer a free tier that includes 10 drive sanitizations per month. This allows you to fully test the platform before committing to a paid plan. No credit card is required to start.

The desktop agent has Windows and Linux builds. See the Download page for the versions published right now. The agent finds the drives, overwrites the ones you pick and reports the result; the website then produces the certificate.

Compliance & Certifications

IQValidate offers a wipe method that follows the NIST SP 800-88 Clear approach: the drive is overwritten and the certificate says so. It does not claim Purge for software overwrites, and a certificate never says more than the software did. Whether a wipe meets your own or your customer's requirement is your decision.

IQValidate gives you records an R2 auditor may ask for: wipe records per drive serial number, certificates of erasure and destruction, and chain of custody. Whether those satisfy your auditor is up to the auditor; we do not certify you.

IQValidate provides destruction records, asset tracking by serial number and certificates with a verification code. NAID AAA is a program run by NAID for service providers; IQValidate is a tool you can use in your process, not a substitute for that certification.

Wipe records and certificates stay in your account until you or we remove them under the terms of your plan. Detailed agent and job logs are kept for a shorter time (job logs 90 days). Download the certificates you need for your own files. Contact us if you have a specific retention requirement.

Security & Data

Connections to the website and API use HTTPS, sign-in goes through IQAuth, and each person has a role (Admin, Operator, Auditor or Viewer) that limits what they can see and do. See the Security page for more.

No. No. The wipe runs on your own computer through the desktop agent. The agent reports details about the wipe (drive serial number, make and model, method, timestamps, the read-back result), not the contents of the drive.

Yes. Every record belongs to one organization, and the website only shows you your own organization's records. The one exception is the public certificate check page, which shows a certificate to anyone who has its verification code, with the serial number partly hidden.

This site does not claim a third-party security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 for IQValidate, so we do not list one. Our records are meant to support your own NIST SP 800-88, R2 and NAID paperwork. Certification belongs to your organization and its auditors. Ask us if you need documentation about how the software works.

Pricing & Billing

Pricing is based on the number of drives you sanitize per month. We offer tiered plans from Free (10 drives/month) to Enterprise (unlimited). Annual plans receive a 20% discount. Visit our pricing page for detailed plan comparison.

If you approach your monthly limit, we'll notify you. You can upgrade your plan at any time, and the upgrade takes effect immediately. We don't automatically charge overage fees without your consent.

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

We offer a satisfaction guarantee for new customers. If you're not satisfied within the first 30 days, contact our support team to discuss your concerns. For other refund requests, please reach out to our billing team.

Technical

The wipe method list shows exactly what each method writes and how many passes it makes. Each certificate states the method that was used. You pick the method before the wipe starts.

SSDs and NVMe drives can be wiped, but an overwrite cannot reach every cell on a flash drive, so the certificate says what was done and what was checked, and does not claim more. After the wipe the computer reads the drive back (a full read-back or a spot check) and reports the result.

The agent takes its instructions from the website and reports progress back as it goes, so it needs an internet connection to start a wipe. Ask us if you need to wipe in a place without internet.

Enterprise plans include API access for integration with ticketing systems, asset management platforms, and other business tools. We also offer webhooks for real-time event notifications.
